For Students
The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences is committed to fostering your abilities in writing, speaking, visual presentations, and multimedia communication.
GEF Requirements for Writing and Communications
SpeakWrite™-certified programs and courses emphasize writing and presentation abilities as an essential companion to learning about specific fields of study. If you are completing a SpeakWrite Certified™ Major, you will automatically fulfill the WVU General Education Foundations (GEF) writing and communication skills requirement.
All other Eberly College majors that do not carry SpeakWrite Certification will require you to complete ENGL 101 and 102 (or 103), and a minimum of two additional program-designated SpeakWrite Certified™ Courses.
Career and Employment
Communication skills are essential for any job, regardless of the industry, role, or level. Employers value candidates who can communicate effectively, clearly, and respectfully with different audiences, purposes, and contexts.
Remember to highlight SpeakWrite™ on your résumé and cover letter.
